I’m working on a series of tech articles

I’ve seen a real need for some help in my community. I’m getting inundated with virus removal, bad power supplies and modems, dead hard drives, and people spending WAY to much money on software they can get for free. So I’m planning on writing about some of these things and if anyone’s interested hit the like button on my facebook page or subscribe on this blog. Also if anyone has any questions I’d be glad to answer them here as well. If I don’t know the answer I know people who probably do.

Evenflo Aura Elite Travel System Stroller – Outback – Evenflo – Babies “R” Us

Ohhh my gosh. We got this stroller travel system on sale and we decided to try out.

The first thing I love about it is the fact that it goes up to 50 lbs. so Nathan gets to ride in it until Aiden gets here.

Second… the drive… it’s like pushing a piece of butter across a hot skillet. It’s the smoothest thing I have pushed around. Even with a 40+ toddler sitting in it. He begs to ride in it every where go so I know it’s comfy. We have two cheap umbrella strollers and I can honestly say I have seriously thought about burning them because of how nice this thing is. The stroller by itself is that good. Never mind that the car seat is just as nice… I can’t wait till baby gets here so we can put him in it!

Long story of this burn old strollers and car seats. Buy this instead!

Goodwill board games

I don’t if had mentioned it or not but we got a Lego board game from the Goodwill awhile back. You can see it below at Amazon’s website (course I didn’t pay that much for it :) ) Anyways my boys love playing it. And they are getting better strategy minded for it. The plans for each person are easy to work with and it certainly requires learning some patience and sportsmanship when someone lands on the take two bricks square and they take two of your bricks. Anyways It works out well. Sadly our last Goodwill trip netted us nothing… but they straightened the store up really well. Who knows maybe next time.

Something funny but true about dad’s

The Fatherhood Cycle:
4 years: “My Daddy can do anything.”
7 years: “My Dad knows a lot, a whole lot.”
12 years: “Oh, well – naturally – Father doesn’t know that either.”
14 years: “Father? Hopelessly old-fashioned.”
21 years: “Oh, that man is so out-of-date. What did you expect?”
25 years: “He knows a little bit about it – but not much.”
30 years: “Maybe we ought to find out what Dad thinks.”
35 years: “Let’s ask Dad what he would do before we make a decision.”
40 years: “I wonder what Dad would have thought about that? He was pretty smart.”
50 years: “My Dad knew absolutely everything.”
60 years: “I’d give anything if Dad were here so I could talk this over with him. I really miss him.”

The site I got this from is here http://www.bible.ca/marriage/parenting.htm

They have all kinds of good reminders about parenting.

Goodwill haul and 70% off store pickups.

Went to the 70% store in La Porte. There we found a Weslo Cadence GTX Treadmill.

Well actually we found 2 of them. They sold for 35 a piece and the nice guy behind the counter said. They are missing parts.

Now being the nice guy that I am. And knowing that Susie is preggers. I know that she needs to walk. It’s getting hot outside, quickly. This is when we decided to start searching for a treadmill. We checked goodwill, academy, southeasttexas.com, craigslist, yard sales… nothing struck our fancy. We prayed and asked for help.

That’s when we walked into the 70% off store. I looked inside the boxes and decided there was enough pieces in both boxes to make a working treadmill and it worked. Susie has tried it out several times and we now have a treadmill sitting in our living room. To help fund this treadmill we have decided to have a garage sale Saturday. We plan on stopping the garage sale by 12:00 so that we can get ready to go to Gina’s wedding.

Anyways we also went to the Goodwill. We found a motherhood maternity skirt for $6.00. 3 Pairs of pants for eli, new shoes for Nathan, some toys for the kids (yeah more toys…), and something else I can’t remember.

And I almost forgot. We also picked up some more items at the 70% off store.
We got this Fisher-Price Manny’s Repair Shop for $60.
And Now I can scratch something off our Baby Registry. Cuz we found this The First Years – Nursing Privacy Wrap Black nursing cover there as well for $7.00 except it it’s not black it’s more of a brown and blue swirly thing kind of color :) .

Well that’s our this time. Planning on selling our old crt monitors, and a bunch of other junk so we can remodel the bathroom and reclaim the downstairs.

Good night!

going backwards on purpose

I find myself being compelled to do things that are out of character. I’ve got a small garden. I’m building my own furniture. I’m trading work for items instead of buying stuff. More and more I seem to yearn for what that which I can do myself. I feel the need to know how to plant and garden in case one day the grocery store is not here. I find myself gathering how to books and pdf’s. I have spent days analyzing solar cells and water mills for electrical independence. Most people are racing to an ever increasing interdependence. I feel the need to become more independent. I don’t want your public school system. I don’t want your government help. I just need my God, some dirt, and knowledge. I’m going backwards on purpose!

A poem I wrote

I wrote a poem and published it online. We printed it out and it’s going in the front pages of our memory book. Our memory book is going to be where we jot down what happened this week and what we felt and thought. You can read our poem here. I try to capture some the reality that everything we have is “on loan” from God. I’m more attached to some things He’s given me than others but I appreciate them!
